My name is Richard Lyon-Wilson.

My passion for fishing and all things fish related has shaped the course of my life and the choices that I have made over the years.

I started fishing aged 5 on my uncle’s boat on the Exe Estuary. For as long as I can remember, fishing has brought me joy and pleasure. All through primary school I would be found every day after school catching minnows and trout in the local streams. I got into course fishing aged 8 and by 12 I was fly fishing-I had found my calling in life! I even managed to come 2nd in an interschool fly fishing competition. Sadly not something that takes place in schools these days.

From school I went to Sparshalt College to study fish farming and fishery management where I met some amazing people who went on to have lasting influence on my fishing career. I have worked as a river keeper in the Outer Hebrides, managed a trout restocking farm on Exmoor, worked on a trout farm in Australia. I have had incredible opportunities to fish all around the world, to build on my knowledge and skills and develop my understanding of and dedication to fishing.

After years of living on Exmoor and fishing the rivers down to and including the Bristol Channel, I got married to a Dorset girl and moved to the South Coast where my passion and fascination for bass fishing began. I am privileged to live on the stunning Jurassic Coast and to be able to share my passions and knowledge to others through Guided Fly and Lure Fishing.
